“A truly great library contains something in it to offend everyone.”

– Jo Godwin

Library Holdings

Library resources consist of over one hundred thousand books and government publications. Over 130,000 scholarly eJournals and millions of articles are available in full-text form.  In addition, the Library provides access to over 500,000 e-books: almost 142,000 commercial and over 359,000 open access titles. Online resources are accessible to faculty, staff, and students both on and off campus. Access to holdings of other libraries is achieved through our interlibrary loan system.

Archive Collection

The Library also holds one-of-a-kind research resources in its Engracia de Jesus Matias Archives & Special Collections. There are over 325 linear metres of archives available for research at Algoma with a focus on regional history, Northern Ontario, shipping on the Great Lakes, and labour history. Additionally, by working with the Shingwauk Residential Schools Centre the Library facilitates access to archival material documenting the legacy of Residential Schools.
